When you get to travel, one hopes that you get to do so at a location such as Italy. Then you arrive at La Badia in Orvieto. Known as “Island of Stone in a Sea of Green”, it’s where the ancient land of the Etruscans, lies on the main communication routes Florence/Rome and is a crossroads of culture and traditions. Set just outside the city walls, it overlooks the rolling green hills of the countryside, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. La Badia has a gorgeous Romanesque Church with a sublime mosaic marble floor and tiny alter that has been perfectly preserved through the centuries. Adorning the walls of the Sacristry are frescos dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. There are several areas to hold a ceremony and reception. Using neutrals to enhance the natural beauty of La Badia, the entrance of the chapel was framed in olive branches and roses. Dorning the alter with candles created a beautiful and ethereal area for our boudoir session.
The reception area was one of my favorites. The restored Abby, left as is archway making it a unique setting to host your wedding reception.
