I love photographing fire throwers. This particular evening posed a challenge not only because he was going to perform at sunset but, I was about a foot ball field away from the platform. Usually I know what settings to go with on the camera, use a tripod (which was also not possible) and also no flash. I’ll use a flash to stop the action and with a slow shutter speed you capture the trail of the flame and a low ISO because of the slow shutter speed, you’ll need to have less sensitivity to light to allow more light to hit the sensor. It was the “no flash” that posed the biggest problem with this set up since I was so far away, more than the 400 feet my flash transmitters would allow. So I just held her steady and “Click!” Enjoy and let us know what you think!
