Mary + David wanted something adventurous and unique. The cliffs off of Hawaii Kai were just that!
He proposed and you said YES! The planning begins… and as you start looking into the countless options for photography, your head is swimming with no idea of where to start. So you and your entourage start panning through a million different wedding images and you find yourself thinking, “Wow I haven’t had professional images taken since my high school yearbook picture and that was thrilling… not!”
Guess what? Smiling into a camera and taking pictures with your honey can be a lot of FUN and something you both look forward to for your Hawaii Engagement Session! While you’re riding that post-proposal wave of engagement bliss, now’s perfect time to stand next to your love in a beautiful Hawaiian backdrop so you can remember the way you felt years down the road. As your Hawaii wedding photographer, it’s part of my job to capture the excitement of your “big step” with a Hawaii engagement session that fits your personality as a couple. I include the engagement session with most of my wedding photography collections and I offer this because I feel it’s an important time in your life that you’ll look back on and smile.
So what goes on during a your Hawaii engagement session? I really try to make this time playful and entertaining for the both of you… kind of like a date that gets caught on film! We can get creative with your shots, too, by working in themes and taking inspiration from your shared hobbies — like this surfing shot.… Once your engagement pics are perfectly fine-tuned in editing, you can use your favorite ones for the “Save the Date” cards, post them on your wedding website, or hang them at your wedding reception to honor your journey. I can use some of the best images to design and print your guestbook — so your wedding guests have some great visuals to inspire them as they wish you well.
I’m happy to help you decide the scenic locations that best reflect your values as a couple and recommend wardrobe ideas for you and your fiancée. This is a fabulous opportunity to advantage of your hair and makeup trial. For tips on style, have a look at my previous blog What to Wear for Your Engagement Session.
Amber and Gabe love the water and the Sand Bar on the east side. At low tide it’s super easy to get to but, you’ll need to know someone with a boat!
Rachel + Alvin love nature and the amazing backdrop that Waimanalo offers. Ending the session with their 49’ers Jersey was perfect to reflect their shared passion. (O.K. mostly Alvin’s but Rachel was a great sport to play along 😉 )
The sand bar offers an AMAZING view of the Ko’olau Mountains.
H+E just wanted to capture the beauty of where they live and just wanted to play!
Working with your Hawaii wedding photographer before your big day helps you get the best photos possible. From an artistic perspective, I can learn a lot by seeing how you and your partner interact, and then use that info to bring out your best attributes through the lens. By the time your wedding day rolls around, we’ll be comfortable with each other and you’ll feel like a pro!
Don’t let the engagement session get swept under the rug! As your Hawaii wedding photographer, I’m excited to help you celebrate this milestone by capturing the thrill and anticipation of getting ready to marry the love of your life. Call me to set up your Hawaii engagement photo session as soon as you can to capture that freshly engaged feeling.
