What do I need to provide?
You need to book & pay for your own round trip airfare to Havana. You will also need to have a valid passport (that doesn’t expire with in the six months of travel) & obtain your own Visa to travel into Cuba. Please bring extra spending money for your spare time in Havana. Credit cards are not excepted right now from US citizens.

Can a US citizen travel legally to Cuba?
Yes, the U.S. Government allows U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba for one of 12 reasons. When you book your plane ticket, you’ll apply for your Visa. You’ll check off “Professional Research or Professional Meetings” for your reason for visiting. Please check with the airline that you book about how to obtain your visa & verify all info listed above.

Is airfare included?
No, you are responsible for making your own travel air reservations and paying your own round trip airfare. We can help provide additional information about flights into Havana from US airlines in December.

How do I fly into Cuba?
Some commercial US airlines will be starting service into Havana starting in November 2016. You can book your flight directly and should be able to obtain your visa at the airport but please check with the airline that you book with to find out how to obtain your visa. Transportation will only be provided from the José Martí Airport.

Where will we be staying?
A hotel in the heart of Havana. Breakfast is included at the hotel.

What is the weather like?
Mid 70’s during the day and mid 60’s during the night. Please bring a jacket for cool evenings. We had a cold snap last January while we were there & it was quite chilly at night.

How much cash should I bring?
If you are a US citizen, you cannot use credit cards, debit cards or ATM’s in Cuba yet. You will need to bring cash to exchange to Cuba CUC. You cannot exchange money for Cuban CUC outside of Cuba. Depending on spending your habits, we recommend $50-$100 + per day.

Where will I exchange my money for Cuban CUC’s?
Exchange at the airport after you land in Havana is the easiest. There are exchange offices around Havana but there are long lines & the wait can be a major headache. Your hotel should have a currency exchange service but hours are limited and unpredictable.

What should I bring?
Laptop, cameras for photo shoots, film, euro converter for 110v, warm clothes for evening, and comfortable clothing for day. You may want to dress for dinner when out on the town.

Will there be WiFi?
Wifi is available at major hotels and there is an hourly fee. We can provide more info after your register.

Will this be a film or digital workshop?
You should bring the medium you are most comfortable in shooting.

What is the start and end time of each day?
We will start around 9:00 am & earlier on photo shoot days & finish around 5 pm.

Can I use these images in my portfolio?
Yes. We will provide more information on how to properly credit your images and when you can use them.

What if my camera equipment gets lost or stolen?
You are responsible for all of your cameras and other equipment, please make sure that it is insured!

Is the water safe to drink?
We recommend drinking bottled water only.

Can I come in before or stay after the workshop date?
Yes you may, but you are responsible for booking & paying for your own hotel, meals, transportation and reservations if coming in earlier. The workshop only includes accommodations/meals/transportation February 1-4, 2017. Check out the morning of February 5th
